Recommended Intake of Vitamin D

The recommended daily intake of vitamin D should be between 400 and 600 IU. However, current research has suggested that a higher dosage would be more therapeutic. In order to improve health and heal the body, the body needs approximately 4,000 and 10,000 IU of vitamin D per day. Depending on skin color, the body will need 10 to 20 minutes of sun every day to produce 10,000 IU of vitamin D. When the sun is not a viable option, it is best to supplement your diet with a vitamin D supplement.
